Technical Efficiency Analysis of Barley Producing Farmers in Ethiopia

The purpose of this study is to examine Technical Efficiency level smallholder barley production and also investigate socioeconomic determinants explaining the variation in among farmers using 488 random sample farm households Ethiopia. employed Maximum Likelihood estimation technique Cobb Douglas Stochastic Frontier Model that one most commonly used models empirical studies agricultural analysis. And found a % increase input oxen-days, plot size, seed, man-days respectively produce return 0.17, 0.22, 0.36, 0.17 output, keeping all other factors constant. This implies increasing utilization productive inputs enhance production. It age, gender, education, compost use, soil fertility status plots, slope plots distance farmlands from residence affect technical efficiency producers In general, results show there possibility average yield by 156% through TE under prevailing same condition. Therefore, concerned bodies should work hard towards improving farmers’ order boost their productivity optimizing they are utilizing aforementioned determinants.
